How can I convert a version document into a master document?

Created on 20th August 2015 at 16:14 by Jamie O'Connell

Dragging a version document into the master-document area will convert it into a master document.

NOTE:
If the version document has a workflow assigned to it, this workflow will remain attached to the new master document. In such a case, the workflow will need to be paused or deleted before the user can edit the document using the 'Master Document Editor'. The 'File > Open Document' command is used to open a master document that has a paused workflow assigned to it.

Drag and Drop

  1. Select a version document.
  2. Drag and drop version document into the master document area of the 'Projects' tab.

NOTE:
This process cannot be undone/reversed. Therefore, you may wish to duplicate the version document before converting it into a master document.

Convert document

You are asked if you want to convert the version document into a standalone document, i.e., a master document.

Click 'Yes' to continue.

Version document converted to master document

The former version document is now listed amongst the other master documents in the 'Projects' tab.

It will still be named 'Version of...', or whatever the 'Name' field of the version document contained.

The new master document contains the same content groups as the original master document.
