Why do I see two of the same folder when replacing images?

Created on 12th October 2015 at 11:17 by Jamie O'Connell

If a user is assigned to both the 'Edit Step' and the first 'Review Step' in a 'Combine Jobs' workflow, it is possible that user will see two identical folders when replacing images. This is normal behavior, because both the edit job and the review job (and the associated content rules) would be active simultaneously in such a case.

Two folders shown during image replacement

After clicking 'Replace' in the 'Image Editor' window, the 'Replace Image' window pops up containing two of the same folder.

'Combine Jobs' can lead to two jobs running at once

This is caused by:

  1. the workflow being a 'Combine Jobs' workflow. This means that the jobs for concurrent workflow steps may run simultaneously.
  2. the user being assigned to both the 'Edit Step' and first 'Review Step' (i.e. two concurrent steps). In a 'Combine Jobs' workflow, these two jobs will run simultaneously.
  3. the 'Edit Content Rules' and the 'Review Content Rules' containing the same image-replacement rules. Both of these rule sets will be active simultaneously if a user is assigned to the edit and first review steps in a 'Combine Jobs' workflow.

If you do not wish for the user to see two identical folders when replacing an image, you can do one of the following:

  • change the 'Job Handling' for the workflow to 'Split Jobs'. Then only one job will run at a time.
  • remove or alter the 'Edit Content Rules'. The content rules from the 'Review Content Rules' will be active in a 'Combined Jobs' workflow.
