How can I edit a text segment that is fully in overset?

Created on 12th August 2015 at 15:44 by Jamie O'Connell

If a text segment is fully in overset, it is obviously not possible to click that segment on the document preview.

Therefore, if an overset segment needs to be edited, the following methods can be used:

  • Method 1: Used when an editor window is already open.
  • Method 2: Used when no editor window is currently open.

NOTE:
It is only possible to edit text segments that are available in the structure panel. If the text segment is not shown in the structure panel, it cannot be edited.

Method 1: An editor window is already open

When the one2edit™ editor window is open, it simply needs to be pointed at the overset segment.

There are three ways to do this:

  1. Select the previous non-overset segment and click the 'Next Item' button in the editable-text area.
  2. Select the previous non-overset segment and click the 'Next Item' button in the editor window.
  3. Select the overset segment in the structure panel.

Method 1: Edit the overset segment as normal

The text from the overset segment will now be available for editing in the one2edit™ editor window.

This method can then be used again if there are further segments in overset, so long as you don't close the editor window.

Method 2: No editor window is currently open

If no editor window is open:

  1. Select the overset segment in the structure panel.
  2. Open the 'Segment Info' panel.
  3. Click the 'Edit' button.

Method 2: Edit the overset segment as normal

The text from the overset segment will now be available for editing in the one2edit™ editor window.

Now that the editor window is open, please see method 1 for editing further overset segments.
