How can I open my TMX file in a third party TMX editor?

Created on 09th October 2015 at 15:32 by Jamie O'Connell

The TMX (Translation Memory eXchange) format is a standard, open file-format for the exchange of data between different translation tools.

It is based on XML and contains translation memory data (mainly language pairs) plus the possibility for some additional information.

Your TMX file

If you have any trouble opening your TMX file in a third party TMX editor, take a look at the file using a text editor and check for the TMX Encoding.

As some TMX editor might need the TMX encoding to be explicitly defined (as encircled in screenshot above), add the missing 'encoding' property (encoding="utf-8") and it should work OK.
