How can I export a translation job if I am not in the workflow?

Created on 14th August 2015 at 16:25 by Jamie O'Connell

An administrator who is not directly involved in a workflow may still export translation jobs as XML.

Step menu > 'Export Job'

In the appropriate workflow track, click on 'Export Job' in the step menu, as shown above.

NOTE:
This option is only available when the workflow is running.

NOTE:
This option is only available for translation workflows.

Select 'Format' and 'Source Language'

The 'Export Job' window opens.

1. Format: You need to select the XML format for your translations from the following list:

  • one2edit Translation
  • one2edit Translation (Absolute Tagging)
  • Excel
  • XLIFF

2. Source Language: If fully translated version documents already exist in this translation project, you can choose one of those languages instead of the master-document source language.

For example: An English document has been fully translated into French and Spanish, i.e., the French and Spanish translation and approval workflows have been fully completed. You can now choose between English, French and Spanish as the source language when exporting for offline translation.

3. Export: Click 'Export' to generate the XML file. The 'Export' button will then change to 'Download' so that you can download the file to your local drive.

NOTE:
For further details about exporting a translation job, please refer to the appropriate lessons.

Step menu > 'Import Job' and 'Unlock Job'

Once a job has been exported, two more options become available in the step menu: 'Import Job' and 'Unlock Job'.

  • Import Job: In order to start the import of a translated XML job file, click 'Import Job'. This is the equivalent of clicking the 'Import' button in the 'Jobs' tab.
  • Unlock Job: Content can only be edited at one location. This means that, while a translation job is exported, the content is being edited outside of one2editâ„¢. Therefore, the content within one2edit remains locked until the translations have been imported. If, for any reason, the export/import process must be cancelled, the content within one2edit needs to be unlocked. This is done by clicking 'Unlock Job'.

NOTE:
It is possible to re-export a translation job at any point by clicking 'Export Job'. The newly exported XML file will contain the original source text.

NOTE:
For further details about importing a job, please refer to the appropriate lessons.
