What Characters should I use for Files and Folders?

Created on 12th October 2026 at 15:48 by Jamie O'Connell

Your Asset Projects are from where you link your Adobe® InDesign® files as projects in one2edit™. These are accessed via the one2edit™ Asset Browser.

When naming any folder or filename in an Asset Project, it is safest to use only the character ranges:

  • a-z
  • A-Z
  • 0-9
  • Spaces and underscores

Each operating system treats special characters (e.g. accented characters) differently. Therefore, something that works locally on your machine, may not work on the one2edit machines.

NOTE: Remember that if special characters are used in your one2edit™ project names (i.e. in the Projects area of the one2edit™ UI), these characters may also end up being used in exported filenames. The default export filenames are set up via your Client Workspace Settings. Please keep these default-name settings in mind when naming your projects in one2edit™.
