How can I export a Translation Job if I am not in the Workflow?

Created on 08th October 2026 at 10:48 by Jamie O'Connell

Administrators who are not assigned to translation workflows may still export jobs for translation.

Export Job directly from Workflow

Open the menu for the Edit Step of a Translation workflow, and click Export Job.

This will open the Export Job dialog.

NOTE: This option is only available in the Edit Step of a running translation workflow.

Select Options and Export

  1. In the Export Job dialog, select your required export options.
  2. Click the Export button.

If a fully-translated version document already exists in this project (i.e. the entire workflow is 100% complete), the Source Language option enables you to select that language as the source language of your translation export.

For example, if a de-DE version already exists, you can export that as a source language for your de-AT translations. This means that the de-AT translator does not need to start with an EN file.

  1. Open the Notifications menu by clicking the bell icon in the top corner.
  2. Download the translation export from the notification's menu.

NOTE: For further details about exporting translation jobs, please refer to the appropriate lessons.

Import Job and Unlock Job

Once a job has been exported, two more options become available in the menu:

  • Import Job: Click this to import a translated XML file. This is the equivalent of clicking the Import button in the Jobs list.
  • Unlock Job: Content can only be edited at one location. This means that, while a translation job is exported, the content is being edited outside of one2edit™, and the job remains locked. Click this to cancel the export/import process and unlock the job.

NOTE: It is possible to re-export a translation job at any point by clicking Export Job.

NOTE: For further details about importing translation jobs, please refer to the appropriate lessons.
