How can I duplicate a one2edit™ Project?

Created on 10th June 2026 at 13:15 by Jamie O'Connell

This lesson shows how to duplicate a one2edit™ Project.

Projects may be duplicated for backup purposes, or to create a new revision of a project (e.g. take the document from last season and update it for this season, etc.).

Other times, a project may need to be split because some target languages require a different document design/layout to other languages.

Whatever the reason, duplicating a project in one2edit™ is very straightforward.

Duplicate Project

To duplicate a Project in one2edit™:

  1. Select Duplicate from the project's context menu.
  2. Choose an option for Version Documents from the drop-down menu (details of each option are below).
  3. Click Duplicate.

The project has now been duplicated.

The new project name has a prefix of "Copy of...", as shown above.

NOTE: To change the name of a project, open the Project Details dialog by clicking a project's thumbnail, or by choosing Properties from its context menu.

None: No Version Documents copied/moved to the new Project

Select None if you don't want to copy/move any Version Documents to your duplicate project.

Copy Selected: Copy Version Documents to the new Project

Select Copy Selected if you want to copy one or more Version Documents to your new, duplicate project.

  1. Check the boxes beside the Version Documents that should be copied (in their current state) to your new project.
  2. Choose Workflow options for the copied Version Documents:
    • Copy Workflows: Check this box to also copy the workflows on the selected Version Documents. If this box is not checked, the duplicate Version Documents will not have any workflows assigned to them.
    • Keep Element Statuses: Elements in the duplicate workflow will retain the same status as in the original. If this box is not checked, all elements will reset to the Edit/Translation step of the workflow.
    • Start Workflows: Workflows on the duplicates will be started immediately. If this box is unchecked, the workflows will be created in a paused state.
  3. Click Duplicate.

NOTE: All of the original Version Documents will remain with the original project.

Move Selected: Move Version Documents to the new Project

Select Move Selected if you want to move one or more Version Documents to your new, duplicate project.

  1. Check the boxes beside the Version Documents that should be moved to your new project.
  2. Click Duplicate.

The selected Version Documents will now be moved to the new project, and their workflows will remain in their current states.

NOTE: It is not possible to undo this action, so please be certain that you want to split your project like this before clicking Duplicate. Version Documents cannot be moved back to their original projects.

NOTE: Only unchecked Version Documents will remain with the original project.
