Why can I not make changes in my Source Document?

Created on 10th June 2026 at 13:12 by Jamie O'Connell

Do Version Documents exist in the Project?

Once Version Documents exist in a project, the source document for that project cannot be edited unless the version documents have been locked.

Click the padlock on the right-hand side of the toolbar to lock the Version Documents.

NOTE: Care must be taken with the Default Reset Settings when locking versions, and the correct boxes must be checked in the dialog, depending on what changes you make. There are more detailed articles about locking Version Documents elsewhere in this knowledge base.

Are there any Locked Layers?

Open the Layers panel, as shown above.

Click a padlock symbol next to a layer to lock/unlock that layer. If a layer is locked, nothing on that layer can be edited.

NOTE: Toggling the visibility (eye icon) or printability (printer icon) of a layer will hide that layer in the one2editâ„¢ editor.

Have you enabled the Dynamic Layout Engine?

If you have enabled the one2editâ„¢ Dynamic Layout Engine in your project, you must disable it before you can make layout changes to your Master Document.
