How can I convert a Version Document to a Standalone Document?

Created on 10th June 2026 at 13:12 by Jamie O'Connell

Dragging a Version Document into the upper pane will convert it into a standalone document.

NOTE: This process cannot be undone/reversed! Therefore, you may wish to duplicate the version document before converting it into a standalone document.

NOTE: If the Version Document has a workflow assigned to it, this workflow will remain assigned to the new standalone document. In such a case, the workflow will need to be paused or deleted before the user can edit the document directly (i.e. not via the Job Editor). Click File > Open Document in the document's context menu to open a standalone document that has a paused workflow assigned to it.

Drag and Drop Version Document

Select and drag your Version Document into the upper pane.

You are asked if you are sure about converting the Version Document into a standalone document.

Click Yes to perform the conversion, or click No to leave the documents are they are.

NOTE: This process cannot be undone/reversed! Therefore, you may wish to duplicate the Version Document before converting it into a standalone document.

The former Version Document is now a standalone document.

The version text will now be listed under the Version column, and the name will be whatever was set as the Name of the Version Document.

This new standalone document contains the same Content Groups as the original project.

NOTE: If you wish to create language versions of this new standalone document, you must first delete the workflow.
