Every translation-memory (TM) match has a 'quality' rating in the 'Translation' panel. This value indicates how much of the document text exactly matches the TM entry. An exact match will, therefore, have a 'quality' of 100 (i.e. 100%).

However, if more than one 100% match exists in the TM for a text segment, that segment will not be translated during a pre-translation action, and the correct translation must be manually applied by the user.

All possible translations are displayed in the 'Translation Result' section. Results from the 'Approved' or 'Permanent' TM will be marked with a green square, while any 'Temporary' TM results will be marked with a red square.

1. Open the 'Translation' panel.
2. If required, select an alternative TM source from the list and click the 'Refresh' button ('one2edit Translation Memory' is selected by default).
3. Check existing translations in the 'Translation Result' box of the panel.
4. Select the appropriate translation and click 'Apply'.

NOTE:
When you click 'Apply' in the 'Translation' panel the translation result will be placed in the floating editor window. To render this translation in the document, click the 'Apply' button in the editor window.

There are two types of translation memory available in one2edit™: 'Temporary' and 'Permanent' (aka 'Approved).

• Permanent (Approved) Translation Memory: Any translation that has been committed to the translation memory (TM) via the 'Commit Translations' workflow action, or imported in a TMX or XML file, is a part of the 'permanent' or 'approved' one2edit translation memory. Selecting the option 'one2edit Translation Memory (Approved)' in the 'Translate With' section, will show only segments fromt this 'permanent' TM.
• Temporary Translation Memory: Any translation marked as 'Done' in a job is accessible in this workspace as 'temporary' translation memory. These translations have not necessarily gone through a review/approval process, so must be treated with caution. The default 'Translate with' option of 'one2edit Translation Memory' displays results from both the 'permanent/approved' and 'temporary' translation memories.

NOTE:
It is assumed that the 'Commit Translations' workflow action will only be called from the 'Steps Completion' section of the workflow (i.e. after all review/approval steps have taken place), hence having the modifier of 'approved'.

If no 100% match exists in the 'permanent/approved' translation memory, then (by default) no translation of the segment will take place.

Possible translations and their quality values will be displayed in the 'Translation' panel, again with red markers for results from the 'temporary' translation memory. Click the info button next to a translation to see the segment's source text.

NOTE:
It is possible to set the pre-translation workflow action to include the temporary translation memory. In such a case, the 100% match from the temporary translation memory shown above would be automatically used in the document. Please see the lesson on workflow actions for more details.

NOTE:
Translation-memory results are case-sensitive. This means that there would be a non-100% match given for 'hello', if the text in the document is 'Hello'.
