Add an Image Frame to a v4 Source Document

Created on 10th February 2026 at 17:59 by Olaf Walther

This lesson shows how to add a new image frame to a source master document.

NOTE: These steps will also help with inserting content into existing empty frames, not just new ones that you have inserted.

Create Frame Tool

Click the Create Frame tool in the one2edit™ toolbar.

NOTE: This tool is not available in the Job Editor.

Drag to draw the new Frame

Draw the new frame in your document.

NOTE: Once the frame has been drawn, it is possible to use the Frame Editor to fine-tune the frame measurements and position.

Define Frame Content

You need to define what content the new frame will contain, or insert the content directly.

Open the frame menu in one of two ways:

  1. via the Structure panel.
  2. via the frame itself in the document preview.

Insert your content into the frame by clicking:

  1. Insert Text or Insert Image. This will automatically set the frame to that type of content.

For a graphic frame, we would select Insert Image, and then select the image from our local machine.

NOTE: You may need to click within the frame to select it, or select the frame via the Structure panel, in order to see the frame menu icon in the preview.

  1. Alternatively, choose the content type from the Content sub-menu in the same menu.
  2. If you set the type first, you will need to subsequently click Insert Image to insert the actual content.

Edit image

  1. The inserted image will be displayed in the frame.
  2. The image fitting options may be used to fit the image to the new frame. To access the fitting options, click Edit Image in the frame menu, or double-click the image in the preview.
