Knowledge Base / one2edit™ v4 Admins - Updating the Master Document / Updating the master document via InDesign – one2edit™ File System

Step 2: Check in the document – one2edit™ File System

Created on 22nd July 2025 at 09:14 by Jamie O'Connell

Once you have updated your document using Adobe® InDesign®, you now need to check it back into the one2edit™ system. This will allow one2edit™ to robustly roll out any changes to the version documents in the project.

This workshop is about checking a document back in to one2edit™, which will allow us to perform a DIFF.

Check In Document

Select Check In Document from the checked-out document's option menu, or double-click the master document.

This will open the Check-in Document dialog.

The Check-In Process

  1. Click the Check In button to check in the document.
  2. The Check-In Document dialog will close, and an editing icon will appear in the status for the document.
  3. Opening the notifications menu will show that the check-in process is running.
  4. When the check-in has completed, a notification will appear.

Status changes to DIFF

When the check-in has completed, the status of the master document changes from CHECKOUT to DIFF.

This means that the check-in was successful, and you can now perform a DIFF to push your changes to the version documents of this project.

NOTE: Until the DIFF process has been completed, no changes will be applied to the master document. This means that a new version document will be created from the original (old) master document, even though the new and updated master document has been checked in.

Congratulations!

You successfully checked your updated document back in to one2edit™.

The final workshop walks you through applying your changes to the master document (and version documents) via the DIFF.
