How do I set what content is editable in a Job?

Created on 03rd July 2025 at 16:31 by Jamie O'Connell

If a content item (e.g. text segment, image) is placed into a content group, it can be edited during a Job on that Content Group.

If you do not want items to be editable, then do not assign them to any Content Groups.

Using Filters in the Project-Creation Assistant

These filters will determine what content is included in (or excluded from) the Content Group.

  1. Include: Anything that matches this filter is included in this Content Group. In this example, we are including all items from the layer named text.
  2. Exclude: Anything that matches this filter is excluded from this Content Group. In this example, we are excluding all delimiters and images.

The net result of the filters in our example is that all items on the layer named text that are not images or delimiters (i.e. all text segments on the layer) will be included in the content group.

NOTE: If you do not use any filters here, all content items will be added to this Content Group.

Manually selecting Content Group items

In the Master-Document Editor (i.e. when you double-click on a Master Document), you can manually drag selected content to a Content Group.

If you wish to remove items from all Content Groups, simply drag the items to the Unassigned Items tab. These content items will no longer be editable in any Jobs for this project.

NOTE: Content items can be dragged from the document preview or from the Structure panel, as shown above. There is also a Content Group sub-menu in the context menu that can be used when assigning content items to groups.

NOTE: You can use the filter in the Structure panel to filter in or out content items from the structure list. You can then select all of the (now filtered) items and drag them all to the required Content Group.
