Select the document from which you wish to export.

Click 'Project > Export Document' to open the 'Export Document' window.

You must define your export settings in the 'Export Document' window.

The screenshot above displays the default export settings. The options and fields may change depending on the selected 'Target' and 'Export' values. We will look at the options in more detail below.

(1) Select 'Target' setting:

The
 file
 can

 exported in three different ways:

• 'Direct Download'
• 'Save to Asset Project'
• 'Generate Link'

(2) Select 'Export' type:

The file can be exported in different formats. 
The 
options 
are:


• Adobe PDF (*.pdf)
• InDesign Document (*.indd)
• InDesign Markup (*.idml)
• Package (*.zip)
• Translation Memory eXchange (*.tmx)

(3) Click 'Export':

Once you have chosen your options, click the 'Export' button to continue.

NOTE:

The options available to you will change depending on what file format is chosen under 'Export'.

This option allows you to directly download the file to your local computer.

Clicking 'Export' will generate the file. When the file has been generated, you will be given a 'Start Download' button that you can use to download the file directly.

This option allows you to save the file to an asset project.

Clicking 'Export' will open an 'Asset Browser' window. Select the folder in which the file should be saved and click 'Save'.

The 'Generate Link' option is used to send a download link via email.

When this option is selected, you will see more options available for creating the email that will be sent.

Fill out the recipient and 'Subject' line and create a message using available variables in the designated field.

Clicking 'Export' will generate a file of the selected type and the download link, and then send the email.

NOTE:

The file is not attached to the generated email, nor is any download link automatically inserted. The download link will be generated by the system after the 'Export' button has been clicked. Therefore, you must insert the '{download.uri}' variable (available via 'Insert Variables... > Download Link') so that the link will be placed in the email once it has been generated.

This option will export a 
PDF
 document 
generated 
from 
the 
InDesign 
file. The content of the document will reflect the content at that stage in the document's workflow.

PDF Preset:

The
 available PDF presets (aka 'joboptions') are those 
presets 
that 
have 
been
 uploaded by the user 
to 
the 
one2edit™ system.


A PDF preset is required to be selected in order to export a PDF document. If no preset is selected, the export process cannot continue. If no presets are available, they will need to be uploaded via 'Settings > PDF Presets'.

Page Range and Order:

The page range and order of the exported document can be set here. It is possible to type in your own page ranges, or you can choose from the presets available:

• All - The document will be exported with all spreads. The PDF spreads will be in the same order as the InDesign-document spreads.
• All, First Page as Last Page - For printing reasons, documents are often designed in two-page spreads, meaning that the digital-document's first page is designed to be the printed-document's last page. With such documents you can select the 'All, First Page as Last Page' option. This will export a PDF containing all of the spreads in the correct page order.

NOTE: What are PDF Presets?

PDF presets are used by Adobe® InDesign® to create PDF files from INDD files. These presets can be exported from InDesign for use in one2edit™. PDF preset files (in a .joboption format) can be uploaded to a one2edit workspace via the 'Settings > PDF Presets' menu option.

Export the current Adobe® 
InDesign® file.


As this is the native format for a file in one2edit™, no further settings are required.

Export the current Adobe® 
InDesign® file as an IDML file.


No further settings are required.

Export a zip file of the InDesign® package.

An 
InDesign 
package may include the fonts, 
links, a PDF 
of the InDesign file, and a report, as well as the INDD file itself.

Choose the options that you require and click 'Export'.

NOTE:

If a PDF needs to be included, a PDF preset must be selected before the package can be exported.

Export a
 Translation 
Memory 
eXchange 
file 
of 
the 
current 
job 
translations.

This is only possible if at least one translation content group exists. Select the content group(s) to be exported by checking the appropriate box(es) in the 'Content group' list.

You can also choose to include any (Global) Text Attributes.

Such attributes would include text styling information from the InDesign document. Some translation memories don't store these kinds of attributes, so there is no reason to export them.

You then need to define the elements to be exported, as indicated by their status:

• All text items (except those with "Needs Translation" status) - all text items that are not marked as 'Needs Translation'. This may include text items that are still undergoing review in the workflow.
• All finished text items (those with "Finished" status) - all text items that have a 'Finished' status. This only includes those text items that have reached the end of the review/approval workflow.

NOTE:

In order to export a TMX file, the document must have a running translation workflow. Furthermore, both source and target languages are required to generate a TMX, so it is not possible to export one from a master document.

A simple preflight check will be done when a document is exported.

If any fonts or links are missing, this warning message will appear, allowing you to abort the export process.

You should then correct any issues listed in this window before exporting the document.
