How can I choose what content is editable in a Job?

Created on 25th November 2016 at 12:49 by Jamie O'Connell

If a content item (e.g. text segment) is placed into a content group, it will be editable during any Jobs in that project.

If you do not want certain items to be editable, then you need to ensure that those items are not present in any Content Groups.

Using Filters in the 'Document Import Assistant'

Using Filters in the 'Document Import Assistant'

These filters will determine what content is included in (or excluded from) the Content Group in your master document.

  1. 'Include': Anything that matches this filter is included. In this example, we are including everything from a document layer called 'editable'.
  2. 'Exclude': Anything that matches this filter is excluded. In this example, we are excluding all delimiters and images.

The net result of the filters in our example is that all items on the 'editable' layer that are not an image or a delimiter (i.e. all text segments on the 'editable' layer) will be included in the content group.

NOTE:
If you do not use any filters here, nothing will be added to the content group. In such a case, there will be no content available in any Jobs created, and thus no work for users to do.

Manually selecting Content Group items

Manually selecting Content Group items

In the 'Master Document Editor' (double-click on a master document), you can manually drag content into a Content Group tab.

If you wish to remove items from all Content Groups, then drag the items to the 'Unassigned Items' tab, as shown above. These content items will no longer be editable in any Jobs for this project.

NOTE:
Content items can be dragged from the document preview or from the 'Structure' panel.

NOTE:
You can use the filters in the 'Structure' panel to filter in only those items that you want removed (e.g. all images). You can then select all of those items and drag them all to the 'Unassigned Items' tab in one go.
