Master Document Editor - Edit menu

Created on 18th November 2016 at 16:13 by Jamie O'Connell

This section describes the 'Edit' menu in the 'Master Document Editor'.

Important:

Please note that this section only describes the menu options at a high-level. For more in-depth explanations, please refer to the appropriate parts of the manual.

'Edit > Undo'

'Edit > Undo'

When a text segment is being edited, the 'Undo' command becomes available in the 'Edit' menu (1) and in the 'Edit Box' toolbar (2). Clicking either of these will undo the last editing step that was performed in this segment.

Important:

Once a document has been saved, it is not possible to undo changes using this method. However, any segment can be rolled back to a previously saved version of itself via the 'Info' panel for that segment.

'Edit > Redo'

'Edit > Redo'

If the 'Undo' command has been used, the 'Redo' command becomes available in the 'Edit' menu (1) and in the 'Edit' box toolbar (2). Clicking either of these will restore any changes rolled back with the 'Undo' command.

'Edit > Search and Replace'

(1) The 'Search and Replace' window allows you to search for a user-defined term within the document.

(2) The search results will then be displayed in a document structure format. It is possible that the document structure will not be organised from top to bottom, i.e., as they are laid out on the spread. Remember, segments are structured according to layers, groups, and the order in which they were created in the original document (by frame ID).

(3) When you select a segment, it will be highlighted in the master document. The 'Edit' box will also open.

(4) If 'Ignore Case' is selected, case sensitivity will be ignored.

(5) If 'Use Regexp' is selected, regular expressions can be used.

(6) The 'Replace' feature allows your search results to be replaced with another user-defined term.
