Using Text Rules

Created on 09th December 2016 at 12:21 by Jamie O'Connell

Administrators can define Text Rules for projects. These Text Rules can be 'enforced' or 'suggested' for the end users.

'Enforced' Text Rules

'Enforced' Text Rules

When Text Rules are 'enforced', the rule will be executed automatically when a match is found.

In this example, the word 'orange' is automatically expanded to 'Orange^Fizz'.

NOTE:

'Enforced' Text Rules will not be applied until changes have been made to the segment (i.e. either by editing the text directly or importing a translation file). If no text change has been made, an 'enforced' Text Rule will show up as 'suggested' in the both the editor and the 'Spelling' panel.

'Suggested' Text Rules

'Suggested' Text Rules

When Text Rules are 'suggested', the matching word/phrase is underlined in blue. The Text Rule may then be chosen from a drop-down menu.

If multiple rules are matched, then multiple rules will be suggested.

NOTE:

It is important to give your Text Rules meaningful names, so that editors/translators will know which Text Rules to apply in the document.

Any Text Rules that are 'suggested' (or 'enforced' Text Rules that have not yet been applied because changes have not been made to the segment) will be shown as blue in the 'Spelling' panel.

Spelling errors, on the other hand, are shown in red.

Double clicking on either of these will bring you to the affected segment.
