Deleting a content group

Created on 08th December 2016 at 17:55 by Jamie O'Connell

You can reorganize your content group structure in your 'Master Document Editor' by deleting content groups.

This lesson will demonstrate how to delete a content group.

Identifying content

Identifying content

(1) Select content group: Select the content group you want to delete in order to identify the segments assigned to the content group.

Example: In the example above the 'translation' content group is selected.

(2) Show Segments: Click the 'Show Segments' button to highlight all content of the selected content group.

Example: Every segment of the 'translation' content group is now highlighted in dark blue within the 'Preview Area'.

(3) Open the 'Structure' window: When you open the 'Structure' window after selecting a content group, all content will be listed there and each segment will be marked with a coloured triangle.

Example: Above, each segment is marked with a dark blue triangle, the colour of the 'translation' content group.

Remove content from content group

Before you delete a content group remember to drag all segments back into the 'Unassigned Items' tab. Only then can those segments be assigned to another content group and be part of a workflow.

(1) Select all 'Spreads' listed in the 'Structure' window.

(2) Drag and drop the content into the 'Unassigned Items' tab.

NOTE:

If you delete a content group without reassigning its content into the 'Unassigned Items' tab, you can still drag segments back manually. In this case, any segment, highlighted in the deleted content group's colour (e.g. dark blue), needs to be dragged and dropped one-by-one into the 'Unassigned Items' tab.

Once the content has been dragged to the 'Unassigned Items' content group the 'translation' content group should be empty.

(1) The 'translation' content group is still selected

(2) Now, no content is shown in the 'Structure' window.

(3) Segments are no longer highlighted in dark blue.
