Working with spread thumbnails

Created on 08th December 2016 at 17:55 by Jamie O'Connell

At the bottom of your 'Job Editor' window you will find a miniature version of each spread. These are the thumbnails. You can do several things with these thumbnails.

1. Switch between previews of document spreads

A document may consist of multiple spreads. The thumbnails of these spreads are displayed across the bottom of the 'Job Editor' view.

You can preview a different spread by simply clicking on the desired thumbnail. The selected thumbnail will then be highlighted, and that spread will be displayed in the 'Preview' area.

2. Scroll through a multi-spread document

If a document contains more spreads that can be displayed in the thumbnail area of your window, you may need to scroll through the spreads to find the one you want to preview.

(1)(2) 'Backwards' and 'Forwards' buttons

These buttons can be clicked on to move through the thumbnail list. The thumbnail view will keep scrolling for as long as the left mouse button is kept pressed or until the last thumbnail is reached.

(3) 'Scrolling-location' bar

Pressing and holding the left mouse button anywhere within the thumbnails will display this location bar. You can then drag the thumbnail list to the left or right (with the left mouse button still pressed) to scroll through the document.

This is the faster method of scrolling through the thumbnails.

3. Move within a zoomed document spread

When zoomed-in on a document, you can see a highlighted area indicating your visible preview area on that spread.

This area can be dragged around the spread to change your view of the document preview.

4. Change the status of all items on a spread

4. Change the status of all items on a spread

At the bottom of each thumbnail, you will see coloured content markers. These indicate the number of job items on that spread.

In this example, 20 of the overall 24 items are still yellow (i.e. marked as 'New'), while 4 items are green (i.e. marked as 'Done'). If you hover your cursor over the yellow content marker, the option for 'Set all do Done' pops up. This can be clicked on to mark all items on that spread as 'Done'.

Similarly, if you hover your mouse cursor over the green content marker, you will get the option to set all items on that spread to 'New'.

NOTE: Hide/show the thumbnail area

When you hover your cursor over the thumbnail area, a small triangle will appear in the centre of the area pointing downwards (1). This can be clicked to hide the thumbnail area (for example, if you need more screen real-estate).

To unhide the thumbnail area, simply hover your cursor over the bottom-centre of the one2edit™ window. This will display a small triangle pointing upwards (2). Click this to display the thumbnail area again.

NOTE: Thumbnails may be 'grayed out'

Some spreads within the thumbail area may be 'grayed out'. These gray spreads do not contain any items from your current job. You can click on a grayed-out thumbnail to view its preview, but there will not be any actionable items present.

NOTE:

It may be that the user in the workflow step before yours has not yet completed and sent through all of the items on their job list. Hence you may sometimes see a grayed-out spread where you know that you will need to edit/review content.
