Knowledge Base / Getting Started with one2edit™ v3 / For Everyone – Spelling Panel

How to use the one2edit spellchecker

Created on 08th December 2016 at 17:55 by Jamie O'Connell

one2edit™ has a spellcheck feature that can work both on-demand and dynamically. A spellchecker will flag any incorrectly spelled words within your document.

This lesson shows how to use this feature.

Select 'Spelling' panel

Select 'Spelling' panel

Click the 'ABC' button to open the 'Spelling' panel in the document editor.

NOTE:

This feature can be used in both the Master Document Editor and the Job Editor.

NOTE:

The 'Language' setting is based on the target language for the translation workflow. If you are in a master document or an 'edit' workflow, this will remain as '[Detect automatically]'.

NOTE:

If you wish to use a custom dictionary, you may need to manually select it from the 'Language' drop-down menu.

Check for spelling errors

Check for spelling errors

When you spellcheck the content of the whole document any spelling error is listed in the 'Spelling' panel.

Using the spell-checker functionality

Using the spell-checker functionality
  1. All spelling errors are listed in the 'Spelling' panel.
  2. Click on a spelling error in the list to open it in the editor.
  3. Any unrecognized words will be underlined in red. There may be multiple errors in a single segment.
  4. When you move your mouse over an unrecognized word, a list of suggested alternatives is shown.
  5. If you believe that the word is correct, you may add it to your list of 'Learned Words' by clicking the 'Learn' option in the list. This word will then no longer be marked as an error in your jobs for this language.
  6. You can use these buttons to move sequentially through the list of unrecognized words.
  7. Click the 'Check' button again to refresh the 'Spelling' panel at any point.

NOTE:

If you have multiple spelling errors in one segment, each word will be listed as a separate entry in the list.

NOTE:

If repeating errors are listed in the 'Spelling' window each error has to be corrected separately. It is not possible to correct several errors at once.

NOTE:

Correcting or learning an unrecognized word will automatically refresh the spelling-error list.

'Check while typing' functionality

  1. For dynamic spell checking, ensure that the 'Check while typing' box is checked.
  2. When you mis-spell a word in the editor window, it will be immediately underlined in red and marked as a spelling mistake.

NOTE:

This functionality does not currently work in the version of Flash that is shipped with the Google Chrome browser. Please use another browser if you wish to enable this functionality.

Learned Words

Learned Words

When you 'learn' a word, it is written to your 'Learned Words' list for the active language.

Learned words are no longer displayed as spelling errors for jobs in this language.

You can view your learned words by clicking the 'Show Learned Words' button at the bottom of the 'Spelling' panel.

Change Spelling Dictionary

Change Spelling Dictionary

You can manually select the dictionary language via the 'Language' drop-down menu In the 'Settings' section of the 'Spellings' panel.

  • For translation jobs, the target language for the job replaces the '[Detect automatically]' text.
  • For edit jobs, or when working in the master document, the '[Detect automatically]' text remains, but the system will have chosen a language for the spelling.

NOTE:

You can manually select a language or custom dictionary from this list, if you wish.
