one2edit™ v3.8.3

Created on 13th November 2014 at 17:29 by Jamie O'Connell

one2edit™ v3.8.3 will arrive on the Express System on 6th November 2014. It is also available as an install for our non-SaaS customers.

Here are some of the new features that you can expect to see.

Adobe® InDesign® CC:

Support for Adobe® InDesign® CC Documents
It is now possible to link Adobe® InDesign® CC documents into one2edit™ projects.
Please note: support for InDesign CC2014 documents will be in a future release. We are awaiting a patch from Adobe® to make this possible.
Update: Adobe® InDesign® CC2014 is now supported by one2edit™ v3.8.3.

PDF Exports:

Export PDF Page Range
It is now possible to select a specific page range when exporting PDFs from one2edit™. Simply type the page numbers (comma separated) or ranges (with a hyphen) into the field for "Page Range and Order".

Export PDF Page Order
From the "Page Range and Order" menu, you can opt to create PDF files in which the first page of the document is added at the end of the document.

Document Editor:

Layer Properties Editable in Master Document
The "Layers" panel is no longer 'read-only'. You can now edit the properties of InDesign document layers (in the master document) from within one2edit™. For example, you can switch on and off layer visibility or printability. This is done via the layer panel in the master document editor, as shown here.

Workflows:

"Are you sure?" when deleting a Workflow step
When you try to delete a workflow step in one2edit™, the system will now ask you if you are sure. This should stop any accidental deletion of steps from workflows.

Default InDesign Version:

The default InDesign setting for any new workspace is now "[Lowest]"
When an InDesign document is linked to a one2edit™ project, its version will automatically be updated to whatever version of InDesign is chosen for the workspace.
For example, if a CS5 document is linked to a one2edit™ project, and CS5.5 is chosen as the "Default InDesign Version", then the CS5 file will be saved in a CS5.5 format. If, however, a CS6 file is linked to a one2edit™ project in the same workspace, it will stay in the CS6 format because it is not possible to save an INDD file as an earlier version.
Therefore, if "[Lowest]" is chosen as the "Default InDesign Version", the INDD files will always stay in their native format (unless that format is lower than the lowest format supported by one2edit™).

Users should check to ensure that this workspace setting is correct for their workflow needs. You can read more about the "Default InDesign Version" setting here.

3rd-Party System Integration (not available on SaaS/Cloud Editions):

DAM System Asset Adaptors
Do you use the Elvis or Media Cockpit DAM systems? If so, then one2edit™ now has asset adaptors for these (Celum DAM is already supported). An asset adaptor allows you to link assets directly from your DAM to your documents in one2edit™. This enables full control of your assets with a DAM system, while leveraging the power of one2edit™ for your localisation and translation needs.

API:

API export/import TMX
Do you need to automate the synchronisation of your one2edit™ translation memory (TM) with the TM in another system? While it was always possible to export a TMX from one2edit™ for a specific translation job via the API, it is now possible to export/import an entire TMX file to/from a one2edit™ translation memory (i.e. a "language set").
