one2edit™ v3.8.1

Created on 21st February 2014 at 18:11 by Jamie O'Connell

one2edit™ v3.8.1 is coming to our Express System for the week starting 10th March 2014. It is also available as an install for our non-SaaS customers.

Here are some of the new features that you can expect to see.

Job Templates:

Use previously-completed documents as starting points for new jobs:
When starting a job from a job template, there is now the option to use a previously-completed version document from the same project from your job archive. In other words, a completed job from the same project on which you worked. The upshot of this is that, if you have completed a France-French document, you can use that completed document as the starting point for your Belgium-French document. This should help with translation and localisation efficiencies in your workflows.

This is a checkbox option ("allow template starter to use finished versions as source") available when setting up a job template.

one2edit™ Editor:

Download PDF of Master:
In v3.8.1, it is possible to download a PDF of the original master document, no matter how many edits you have made. This means that, if you ever need to check the original wording or placement in the master document, you can export a PDF to show exactly this. This "Export Master" option is available in both the editor and the Jobs Tab.

Display Image Metadata/Copyright:
The metadata for any asset can now be displayed in both the asset browser or the editor. In the asset browser, it is available via the "info" button when an asset it selected. In the editor, it is available in the "metadata" section of the image's info panel.

Workflow Panel in Job Editor:
There is a new Workflow Panel available for the job editor. If enabled, it will allow users to see both their current job status, as well as where their workflow step lies in the overall workflow, i.e., what steps come before and after. This can be useful for both delivering a holistic workflow overview, as well as allowing users who belong to multiple steps to see exactly where they are working at that moment.

Reveal Image in Asset Browser:
It is possible for a user to jump to the location of an image/asset within the asset browser from within the job editor (if the user already has access rights for that asset space, naturally). This "reveal in asset browser" function is accessed via a selected-image's info panel.

Display Source Language from Other Versions:
In a translation job, a user can now choose from multiple "source" languages via the translation panel. In other words, if you have an English master document with a completed Italian translation, a translator can view the completed Italian text (as well as the original English text) when translating into a third language.
This also means that it is possible to export a translation file from a completed version, i.e., that the translation job "source" language can be taken from any completed version document in that project.

UTF-8 Regular Expressions in the Document Structure Filter:
The document-structure filter type "Text" now supports the use of UTF-8 regular expressions. If you don't know what this means, then you probably don't need to.

Projects Tab:

Workflow Sub-menu:
The Project menu in the Projects Tab now contains a Workflow sub-menu for operating on workflows en masse. When you select multiple documents, you can then pause or resume all of these workflows with one click. It is also possible to delete or create workflows for all of the selected documents.

Asset Browser:

 "Reveal" Function:
The asset browser can now be opened to a specific location. This means that, at the click of a button, the source file for a project or image can be located. It also underlies many of the following features.
"Reveal in Asset Browser" is a function under the File menu in the Projects tab. It can be used with any selected Master Document.

Remember Last Position:
The asset browser can now "remember" where it was within a session. It will open to the location of the previously-linked project.

Scroll to Selected Item:
This is really more of a bug fix. When a search result is double-clicked, the item will be automatically scrolled into the visible range.

Original Document Location shown at Checkout:
When checking out a file, the original location of that master document will be shown by default instead of the root directory area. This should make it easier when choosing a location for the checkout.

Reveal Previous Document Fonts Folder Selection:
If the document fonts folder is being changed, the starting point will be the previously chosen folder, not the root folder.

Book Function:

Create one2edit™ Projects from an Adobe® InDesign® Book File:
It is now possible to import InDesign® Book files (.indb) into one2edit™. Projects will be created within one2edit™ for all of the associated InDesign® documents (.indd), if they are accessible at the time of import.

Duplicate Version Documents when duplicating a Book:
When duplicating a Book within one2edit™, it is now possible to duplicate all of the version documents associated with that Book. These new versions are then linked to the duplicate book. In other words, a full copy or snapshot of that book can be made at that point in time.

Double-click to reveal Linked Document:
Double-clicking a document within a Book will browse to that source document within the Projects tab.

Show Status and Progress of Linked Documents:
There is now more information displayed for documents that are contained within a Book. The name, version, ID, pages, status, and workflow progress are all now shown for each document within the Book.
