Default InDesign Version

Created on 18th January 2013 at 19:06 by Jamie O'Connell

one2edit™ can support the latest stable version of Adobe® InDesign® Server. It can also support one or more older versions.

When a document is uploaded to the one2edit system, it will (by default) recognize the document's InDesign version and support it. That will allow for each document to remain in its original InDesign version post-upload.

NOTE:
By default, Enterprise (i.e. locally installed) one2edit systems will only have one version of InDesign Server (this may depend on the number of render servers in the installation).
Multiple InDesign Server versions are typically available with the one2edit™ Express SaaS system.

Default InDesign Version

The default version of Adobe® InDesign® Server to be used in the workspace can be selected from this drop-down menu.

NOTE:
By default, the selection here is '[Lowest]'.

Choose the desired "minimum" InDesign® version from the list

This screenshot shows an example where the system can support CS5, CS5.5, CS6 and CC 2015 of Adobe® InDesign®.

What is a "minimum" InDesign® version?

In the example above, if we choose '[Latest]' or 'Adobe InDesign CC 2015 (11)', then all documents will be updated to the InDesign CC 2015 INDD format when a project is created. Furthermore, any existing documents will also be converted to InDesign CC 2015 when they are opened/worked on.

If, however, we choose 'Adobe InDesign CS5 (7.0)' (or '[Lowest]'), any documents that are CS5, will remain in the CS5 format. Similarly, CS5.5, CS6 and CC documents will remain in their original format.

Therefore, the chosen version is the lowest (or "minimum") InDesign version to which documents in your system will be converted when in a one2edit™ project.

NOTE:
Any older-format documents that are put into the system (e.g. CS4 format) will be updated to at least version CS5, depending on the option chosen here.
