Override Frame-Editing Rules for a Workflow Step

Created on 10th June 2024 at 17:43 by Jamie O'Connell

It is possible to override any Frame Rules on a document-wide basis for a specific Workflow Step (i.e. Job).

NOTE: A user may only edit a frame if the frame contains content that the user may edit (i.e. image, text segment). Frames that contain no editable content cannot be edited during a Job.

Setting Frame Rules per Workflow Step

To override the current Frame Rules for a Job (including the default setting of not being able to edit any frames):

  1. Click on the kebab menu (3 dots) next to the workflow step name to open the menu for that step.
  2. Choose an option from the Frame Rules menu.

There are 3 options:

  • Use Settings: This is the default setting. Users at this step are beholden to any Frame Rules set in the master document.
  • Allow None: With this selected, users at this step cannot edit any frames. This command overrides any Frame Rules set in the master document.
  • Allow All (that contain texts or images): With this selected, users at this step can edit any frame in this document that contains editable content. This command overrides any Frame Rules set in the master document.

NOTE: Permitting frame editing for a specific workflow step can be useful if, for example, a designer/copy-fitter is working at a specific step in the workflow, but no other workflow steps should be allowed to edit frames.
