Knowledge Base / one2edit™ v4 Admins – Creating Projects Manually / Creating/Editing Content Groups

Manually create or edit a Content Group

Created on 10th June 2024 at 17:40 by Jamie O'Connell

Only content that has been placed into a Content Group can be edited within a Job.

This lesson demonstrates how to create Content Groups in the source-language document (i.e. the master document), and to populate the groups with the content that should be translated/edited.

Any content not added to a Content Group will not be editable in a Job.

NOTE: There are two types of Content Group: Edit and Translation. This lesson is about creating a Content Group of type Translation. However, the steps are the same for when creating a Content Group of type Edit.

NOTE: If you use the Project-Creation Assistant to create your project, then your Content Groups will automatically be created and populated.

Open the Master Document

Open the Master Document

Content Groups are created within the master document.

Double-click on the document to open the Master Document Editor, or click Open Document in the option menu.

Create a new Content Group

Create a new Content Group

Click the Add new content group button at the top-left of the screen to create a new Content Group. This opens the New Content Group dialog.

NOTE: The All Items and Unassigned Items are default Content Groups that cannot be edited or removed. They are used to help filter which items are active in the document.

Define Content Group settings
  1. Name: Name the Content Group. This name must match that of a Content Group in the Workflow Templates you will use with this project, and it is case sensitive.
  2. Color: Content assigned to this group will be highlighted in the chosen color when the content is selected or highlighted.
  3. Type: The two types are: Edit Group and Translation Group. If your workflow is a translation workflow, choose Translation Group here.
  4. Source Language: This option appears when you choose Translation Group. Select the language used in this master document.
  5. Content Rules: Drag and drop Content Rules to these fields from the Settings > Content Rules dialog. Rules in the Edit field are used in the Edit/Translation step only. Rules in the Review field are used in all review/approval steps of the workflow.
  6. Text Rule Sets: If you wish to override any Text Rule sets applied to the document, or if you wish to assign Text Rules to the content of this group only, uncheck the Inherit Settings checkbox and drag rule sets from the Settings > Text Rules dialog.
  7. When you are finished, click Save.

Content Group created

You will now see your new Content Group displayed in the tabs above the toolbar.

You may now drag-and-drop content from the document or structure panel to this tab.

NOTE: Double-clicking on an existing Content Group tab will allow you to edit the settings for that Content Group.
