Workflow Actions > Pretranslation (one2edit TM)

Created on 01st March 2024 at 10:51 by Jamie O'Connell

Documents can be automatically pre-translated in a one2edit™ workflow. A pre-translation is performed as a first step before handing the translation job to a human translator, so it is typically added to the very first step in the workflow.

After adding the Pretranslation action to your workflow, you can choose the status for any translation matches found (e.g. should they just be marked as translated, or also committed for review?)

NOTE: In order for text to be pre-translated, the Translation Memory (TM) of your one2edit™ Language Set must contain translation matches. In order to use a machine-translation engine for pre-translations, please speak to your one2edit™ system administrator.

Add Pretranslation Action

  1. Drag and drop the Pretranslation action into the desired field, typically the Start field of the Edit step.
  2. Double-click the action, or select Edit from the action's option menu, to open the Action Editor dialog.

NOTE: The Workflow Actions dialog is opened by double-clicking on any Drop actions here field in a Workflow.

Pretranslation (one2edit TM)

Now you can choose which translation memory (TM) databases to use during the pre-translation process.

The options are:

  • Use Temporary TM: During a translation job, a Temporary Translation Memory stores the current translations. This option allows the Pretranslation action to match translations from any active (i.e. in-progress) translation job with the same source and target languages (from the same Language Set).
  • Use Permanent TM: The Permanent Translation Memory consists of those translations stored in the one2edit™ Language Set (i.e. typically those that have been through a review/approval process). This TM is selected by default.

Both options can be selected, if desired. However, please keep in mind that translations in the Temporary TM are from in-progress jobs, and may not yet have gone through any review or approval process.

You may also choose the status which will be assigned to any 100% translation match found during the pre-translation process.

The options are:

  • Needs Translation: The status for any pre-translated item will not change – it will be left as Needs Translation (i.e. yellow).
  • Translated: All pre-translated items will be marked as Done (i.e. green), but not yet committed to the next workflow step (if one exists).
  • Translation Finished: All pre-translated items will marked as Done and committed to the next step in the workflow (if there is one).

You can choose an option depending on your workflow requirements.

NOTE: If there is only a single workflow step, and all segments in the document are pre-translated and marked as Translation Finished, then the job will complete without any more user interaction.
