Starting a Template

Created on 14th December 2023 at 16:54 by Jamie O'Connell

Starting a Template is as easy as clicking a Start button.

When a user starts a template, their view will switch to the Jobs list. This is because templates are typically for users to create their own Jobs.

NOTE: If your user is not assigned to the first step of the workflow for the started Job, then no new Job will appear in your list. The Job has appeared instead for the workflow user(s).

Navigate to Templates area

Navigate to the Templates area via the main navigation menu.

NOTE: If your user has no access to any templates, then you will not see a Templates option in your navigation menu. Your local one2edit™ administrator can grant your user access to templates.

Start the Template

To start a template, click its Start button.

Job has been created

You will be automatically brought to your Jobs list once you start a template.

NOTE: As mentioned above, no Job will be shown if your user is not one of the users assigned to the first step of the Job's workflow.

(Optional) User can change default values

If the Allow template-starter to change default values option is enabled for the template, the user will be shown a Start Template dialog when they click Start.

In this dialog, the user can change both the name and description of the new Job.

(Optional) User can use a finished version as source

If the Allow template-starter to use finished versions as source option is enabled for the template, the user may be shown a Start Template dialog when they click Start.

This dialog contains any Jobs from this same project that the user has previously completed (i.e. Jobs from the user's own Job Archive).

  1. The user can uncheck the Use Original checkbox to activate the list.
  2. The user can then choose a previously-completed Job as the starting point for their new Job by clicking on it.
  3. The user then clicks Start to start the new Job using the previously-completed Job as the starting point.

For example, if the user had previously completed a de_DE translation Job, they could use a copy of that translated document as a starting point for their de_AT translation Job.

NOTE: If the user has no previously-completed jobs from this project in their Job Archive, they will not be shown any Start Template dialog.

NOTE: The user will not have the option to use another user's completed document as the starting point for their own document. They can only see Jobs from their own Job Archive (i.e. Jobs that they have worked on themselves).
