Marking items as Accepted

Created on 04th December 2023 at 13:54 by Jamie O'Connell

This lesson will show how to mark a Job item as Accepted and commit it to the next workflow step (if there is a next step in the workflow).

NOTE: There is a separate lesson on how to reject job items.

Job items

Job items are moved individually through the workflow.

The progress bar next to a Job in the Jobs list shows how many job items are in your current job.

Example in the screenshot above:

  • Total number of items active in the review Job: 11 items (out of a total of 74 items in the overall task)
  • Number of task items that have not yet been committed for review: 63 items (the dark-gray portion of the progress bar)

Marking items as Accepted

Marking items as Accepted is done in the same way as marking items as Done.

  1. via the Status-Marker menu
  2. via the Editor drop-down menu
  3. via the item's option menu in the Structure panel
  4. or set the status of all items on the spread via the Spread-thumbnail menu

The only difference is that items are marked as Done in the Edit/Translation step, and items are marked as Accepted in a Review step.

The Status Marker for an Accepted job item turns green in both the document preview and in the Structure panel.

NOTE: Spreads containing no active job items are grayed out.

NOTE: You can also set the status of items back to New using the same methods.

NOTE: It is also possible to highlight multiple items or spreads in the Structure panel and mark them all as Accepted via the multi-select option menu that appears.

NOTE: The ability of users to add Notes to job items depends on their user-group permissions.

Commit items to next workflow step

Commit items to next workflow step

When any job items have been marked as Accepted, and another step of the Workflow exists, a Question dialog is displayed when exiting the Job.

Click Yes to commit all Accepted items to the next workflow step, meaning that they will no longer be active/accessible in the current job.

NOTE: This question does not appear if there are no further steps in the Workflow.

NOTE: You will be no longer able to edit/review items that have been committed to the next workflow step.

NOTE: Simply saving the document does not commit any job items to the next step. You must explicitly click Yes in this dialog to commit job items to the next Workflow step. Clicking No will leave the items marked as Accepted, but not yet commit them to the next step.
