Master Document Editor - Text-Segment Menu

Created on 18th July 2023 at 12:25 by Jamie O'Connell

The Text-Segment menu is where you insert new segments, duplicate segments, and change the type of a segment. This is also where you can find the Change Segmentation option for applying Segmentation Rules to a document.

NOTE: This section gives a high-level description. For more in-depth explanations, please refer to the appropriate parts of the Knowledge Base.

Text-Segment Menu

This menu can be opened via the Structure Panel (as shown in the screenshot).

  • Edit Text: Opens this segment in the Text Editor.
  • Add Note: Adds a note to this segment.
  • Content Group: Pops out a list of Content Groups to which you can assign the selected segment. The segment's current Content Group is marked.
  • Insert Segment: Insert a new segment before or after the selected segment, as selected via a sub-menu.
  • Duplicate Segment: Duplicates the text segment within the frame.
  • Delete Segment: Deletes this segment from the document.
  • Segment Type: Choose the Type for this segment: either Text or Delimiter (e.g. the space between sentences - not an editable part of the job). The current Type is marked.
  • Change Segmentation: Opens the Apply Segmentation dialog.

Multiple Text Segments Selected

When two or more segments are selected, an Action Menu appears (as shown in the screenshot).

There are some new options available when multiple segments are selected.

  • Duplicate Segments: Duplicate all selected segments.
  • Merge Segments: Merge the selected segments into a single segment. If non-consecutive segments are selected, the option to merge all segments between the selected segments will be offered.
  • Delete Segments: Delete all selected segments.

NOTE: Merging segments will create a new segment. This new segment must be re-added to any Content Groups.

NOTE: If the selected segments are assigned to different Content Groups, then no checkmark is displayed. Choosing a Content Group from the menu will still assign all selected items to that group.
