What is one2edit™ Data Sources?

Created on 04th December 2017 at 16:08 by Jamie O'Connell

The one2edit™ Data Sources feature was developed to simplify and automate the process of transferring information from a 'single source of truth' (e.g. a financial spreadsheet) to an InDesign file.

Data sources (e.g. Excel documents) are linked to projects or documents in one2edit. Then individual segments in the InDesign file can be linked to specific data items within the source (e.g. cells in a spreadsheet).

If the source is updated, those updates are automatically pushed through into the InDesign file(s). Alternatively, the data can be manually pulled into an InDesign file when required.

Benefits:

  • When data in the Data Source is updated, it can be automatically updated inside any InDesign file that has linked to it.
  • Removes user error from copy/pasting of data, both raw data and formulaic calculations.
  • Region-specific sources can be linked to region-specific version documents (e.g. EUR vs USD prices).
