Frame Fitting Options

Created on 11th April 2017 at 12:20 by Jamie O'Connell

The InDesign® frame fitting options can be very useful when images are due to be replaced during the localization workflow. You can assign fitting options to an image frame by either applying an object style to the frame that contains a fitting value, or by changing the frame fitting options directly for that frame.

NOTE: The Fill Frame Proportionally fitting option is often chosen, with the center of the image as the reference point. This means that any new image placed into that frame will automatically be scaled to fill the frame, with any cropped image data distributed evenly to the left and right (or top and bottom, depending on the shape of the frame).

NOTE: The Auto-Fit option can be enabled to ensure that all replacement images keep to the same settings as were originally chosen in the frame.

These options can ensure that images placed into a frame always keep the same settings.
