Knowledge Base / Getting Started with one2edit™ v4 / Using the Translation Panel in the Job Editor – v4

Accessing the TM via the Translation panel

Created on 09th June 2023 at 11:34 by Jamie O'Connell

The Translation Panel grants you access to the one2edit™ internal translation memory (TM) during a translation job.

Open the Translation Panel

  1. Click on an editable text segment to open the editor.
  2. Opening the editor reveals the Translation Panel. Click on the Globe icon to open it.

NOTE: Selecting a segment is not enough to display the Translation Panel. The editor dialog must be open, or the panel icon will not be shown.

Apply Translation Memory Matches

  1. Here we can see that there is a match for this segment in the Translation Memory (TM).
    • The translation shown has a Quality of 100, meaning that this match a 100% match for the selected segment.
    • The green square to the left indicates that the translation match is from the permanent/approved TM.
    • The Text field shows the a sample of the translated segment.
    • Clicking i (info) will display the full source and target text of the translation match.
  2. Select the translation to use (there may be more than one match) and click the Apply button to update the editor. You can also double-click the translation instead of using the Apply button.

NOTE: The Apply button will be disabled until a translation is selected.

  1. This updates the text in the editor to the chosen translation text, which can be edited/adapted/styled as required.
  2. The updated text will then be automatically rendered in the document after a short wait.

NOTE: By default, the Translation Source is set to Source Text. This setting means that translation matches will be found for the text in the source document, not the text in the current document.

NOTE: Adding a pre-translation action to the Workflow for this Job would have automatically translated this 100% match.

Mark Item as Done

Once you are happy with the translation, mark it as Done by selecting Done in the Editor Menu, or in the Status Marker menu.

'Translation Memory Info' window

Clicking on the i (Info) button to the right of the TM match opens the Translation Memory Info dialog.

This dialog contains the source and target texts for the TM entry, allowing the user to check the content of a non-100% match and see if it is suitable.

NOTE: The TM-matching algorithm is case-sensitive, so (for example) Wind Power is not a 100% match to Wind power.

Free-Text Translation

  1. Set the Translation Source to Free Text.
  2. This displays a text-input field, where you can type in any text to match.
  3. Click the Refresh button to check for matches of your typed text in the Translation Memory.
  4. Any found matches are displayed as usual.
