Editing Text – Glyphs

Created on 16th May 2023 at 14:22 by Jamie O'Connell

When editing text, you might need to insert characters or symbols that are not on your keyboard.

This lesson shows you how to use the Glyphs Panel for these characters.

Insert Glyph from Glyphs Panel

  1. Place the cursor at the correct position in the Segment Editor
  2. Double-click the relevant glyph in the Glyphs Panel
  1. The chosen glyph appears at your chosen location in first the Segment Editor and then in the document preview

The Glyph must be present in the font!

  1. The Glyphs Panel contains all possible glyphs (letterforms) and symbols. A chosen glyph will always show up correctly in the Segment Editor, regardless of the font being used in the document.
  2. However, in order for a glyph to render correctly within the document, it must be present in the font. If the selected glyph is not present in the font
    • a Missing Character (or Character Not Found) symbol will be displayed when the document preview is rendered
    • no symbol will be rendered, as is the case with the font in the example screenshot (sometimes the font does not contain a Missing Character symbol)

NOTE: If you do see Missing Character symbols (or missing characters) in your document when using one2edit, please speak to your design team to ensure that the required glyphs are present in the font.
