Editing text

Created on 16th May 2023 at 14:22 by Jamie O'Connell

Text edits are made via the Segment Editor. Changing the text in the Segment Editor updates the text in the document.

Click on Text Segment

Click directly on any text segment that highlights to open it in the Segment Editor. Make your edits and wait – the document text will update automatically after a short period of inactivity.

NOTE: If a text segment does not highlight, then it is not a part of the Job and cannot be edited.

Click Edit on the Element Menu

You can also open the Editor by choosing Edit from the element's menu. This can be done in one of two ways:

  1. Clicking on the Status Marker will pop out a menu for the element.
  2. You can also click the Option Menu for the element in the Structure Panel.

Both of these menus contain an Edit option, which will open the text element in the Editor.

Next and Previous Items

  1. Previous Item: Moves the selection to the previous item in the text frame.
  2. Next Item: Moves the selection to the next item in the text frame.

NOTE: If the selected item is the first, last, or only item in the text frame, one or both of these buttons will be disabled.

Resize text in Segment Editor for clarity

Use the slider to change the display size of text in the Segment Editor.

NOTE: This slider is for usability purposes only, and has no effect on the font size in the document.

Undo & Redo

When editing a text segment, you can undo (1) or redo (2) changes made to that segment. These buttons are only active if an undo/redo history is available.

NOTE: Undo/redo only works for changes made while editing an individual segment. Clicking away from the segment or closing the Segment Editor will immediately clear the undo/redo history for this segment. Previously-saved revisions of the segment can still be accessed via Revisions in the Segment Info Panel.

Save Changes and/or Close Job

  1. At any point during the editing process, you can save your changes by clicking the Save button in the Toolbar. If you have no unsaved changes, this button will be inactive.
  2. If you have finished your work, or are leaving your computer for a break, click the Close Document button to close the Job.

NOTE: If you have unsaved changes when you click Close Document, you will be prompted to save your changes.

NOTE: You must always close your Job using the Close Document button. Closing the browser tab without first closing the Job can cause issues for other users.
